Which major music festivals get the most rain? We ranked them by average daily rainfall over 15 years of historical weather data — plus how muddy each one typically gets and what to pack.
How we measure rain
For every festival we pull roughly 15 years of daily records from the Open-Meteo historical archive, matched to the venue's exact coordinates and the festival's calendar dates. We then average the daily precipitation total across the main festival days. A "wet day" is any day with 1mm or more of rain — the point at which you generally want a jacket.
Millimetres translate to experience roughly like this: 0.5mm is a passing shower, 2–5mm means on-and-off showers or one short downpour, 8mm+ is persistent rain, and 15mm+ is a proper soaking that will turn a grass field into mud.

What to bring to a wet festival
- Wellies or waterproof boots — the single highest-value item at any festival above 2mm/day. Trainers soak through in an hour.
- A real rain jacket, plus a cheap poncho — the jacket keeps you dry, the poncho goes over your backpack in the crowd.
- A tarp or extra groundsheet — under the tent, not just inside it. Water comes up as much as it comes down.
- Dry bags or zip-lock bags — for phone, power bank, tickets and one guaranteed-dry change of socks.
