Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas is the largest electronic music festival in North America, held over three nights at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Around 170,000 people a night experience a full sensory build-out of stages, art cars and rides — running from dusk until sunrise.
Mid-May in the Mojave Desert is hot and bone-dry: daytime highs of 30–34°C, nights still warm at 18–22°C, near-zero rainfall, and strong, gusty desert winds that can kick up dust storms across the speedway.
Because EDC runs overnight, the brutal daytime heat mostly affects the trip in and out — the festival itself is in much friendlier desert-night temperatures. The real weather story is wind: dust storms have delayed sets and grounded the rides in past years, and dehydration is a year-after-year risk even at night.
