Detailed Download 2026 Weather Recap

It has been two weeks since we left the hallowed turf of Donington Park, and looking back, Download Festival 2026 really treated us well compared to the usual mid-June averages. Friday was the absolute standout day, feeling significantly warmer and drier than a typical June afternoon. It was proper t-shirt weather with just a tiny passing shower that barely dampened the dust. However, Saturday brought a sharp reality check. Even though the thermometer said 17°C, the wind chill made it feel much colder at just 12°C, meaning those who didn't head back to the tent for a heavy hoodie or denim jacket definitely felt the bite during the afternoon sets. Sunday stayed beautifully dry and felt much more pleasant in the sun, though the temperature dropped quickly once the headliners finished. Since the nights dipped down to 10°C, a high-quality sleeping bag was a lifesaver for anyone camping. Overall, we got away with much less rain than the usual 9mm expected for this weekend, so I hope you prioritized the sunscreen over the wellies this time around. It was a classic year where layers were your best friend to handle that deceptive Saturday chill.

About Download

Download Festival is the UK's premier rock and metal festival, held at Donington Park in Leicestershire — hallowed ground for British metal since the Monsters of Rock years. Around 110,000 people camp across the racetrack for three to four days each June.

Typical Download weather

Mid-June in the East Midlands is unpredictable early British summer: highs of 17–21°C, nights of 9–12°C, and a steady chance of showers or full rainy days. True heatwaves are rare but do happen.

How weather shapes Download

Donington's clay-and-grass campgrounds are notorious for turning into a swamp — Download 2007 and 2019 are remembered as much for the mud as the music. Wellies and a waterproof are non-negotiable, and the lack of natural shelter on the campsites means tents take a beating in wind and rain.
