Creamfields is the UK's largest dance-music festival, held over the August bank-holiday weekend at Daresbury Estate in Cheshire. Around 80,000 ravers a day camp out for a four-day blowout of techno, house and trance.
Late August in the North West of England is hit-and-miss: highs of 18–21°C, nights of 11–13°C, and frequent showers off the Irish Sea. Sunny weekends do happen, but multi-day rain is the more typical pattern.
Daresbury's open fields turn boggy quickly, and Creamfields has a long folklore of mud-soaked editions; wellies, waterproofs and bin-bag groundsheets are part of the kit. When the weather holds, the campsite parties run from morning to morning — when it doesn't, the indoor arenas become the lifeline.
