Rock Werchter is Belgium's biggest rock festival, held since 1976 on the fields outside the village of Werchter near Leuven. Four days of mostly mainstream rock, indie and pop draw around 88,000 people a day.
Early July in central Belgium gives highs of 22–25°C and nights around 13–15°C. Rain is frequent but usually showery rather than all-day, and full heatwaves above 30°C happen every few years.
Werchter's grass site drains reasonably well, so rain is annoying rather than catastrophic — though the campsite has produced legendary mud years. The bigger modern issue is heat: the main field is almost entirely unshaded, and recent editions have seen extra water stations and misting added to cope.
