Parookaville is a fictional city built each July around Weeze Airport in western Germany, complete with mayor, post office and 'citizens'. The three-day electronic festival draws around 85,000 dance-music fans into an immersive role-play around the music.
Mid-July in the German Lower Rhine has highs of 23–26°C, nights of 14–16°C, and a steady chance of summer showers and thunderstorms. Long heatwaves and washouts both happen.
The airfield is wide-open and exposed — wind and rain hit hard with nothing to break them, and the campsite turns muddy fast. On hot days the lack of natural shade pushes people into the themed buildings and tents. Sunscreen during the day, hoodie at night is the usual move.
