Mysteryland is the longest-running electronic music festival in the world, held annually since 1993 on the Floriade grounds in Haarlemmermeer near Amsterdam. Around 65,000 people a day gather for a theatrical, art-heavy production spanning house, techno and trance across multiple weekends of stages and campsites.
Late August in the Dutch lowlands is mild, breezy and changeable: highs of 21–23°C, nights of 13–15°C, and a moderate chance of showers blowing in off the North Sea. Hot stretches are short, and overcast days are common.
The site is flat, open polder land with little shelter, so wind and sudden squalls shape the experience as much as rain. Drainage is decent because the area sits on engineered Dutch soil, but heavy showers can still turn the walkways muddy. Most attendees pack a rain jacket alongside their sunglasses and assume both will get used.
