Karrusel Festival is a three-day house and techno celebration held on Refshaleøen, the former shipyard island in Copenhagen harbour. Curated by the team behind Distortion, it brings an international underground line-up to an industrial waterfront setting with around 15,000 attendees a day.
Late August in Copenhagen is transitional Danish summer: highs of 19–22°C, nights of 12–14°C, and a moderate chance of showers blowing in from the Baltic. Warm, sunny days still happen, but overcast skies and brisk winds are just as common.
Refshaleøen is flat, open and right on the water, so wind and sudden temperature drops shape the night more than at inland festivals. A sunny afternoon feels glorious, but after dark a hoodie becomes essential, and a passing shower can send the crowd scurrying between the warehouses and covered bars. The industrial site drains well, so mud is rarely an issue.
