Copenhell is Denmark's biggest metal festival, held on Refshaleøen, the former shipyard island in Copenhagen harbour. Four days of metal, hardcore and industrial music turn the post-industrial site into a heavily themed playground for around 30,000 fans a day.
Mid-June in Copenhagen brings highs of 18–21°C, cool nights of 11–13°C, and a fair chance of showers off the Øresund. Genuine summer heat is unusual this early in the season.
Refshaleøen is concrete, gravel and steel — drainage is excellent, so the site never turns to mud, but wind off the harbour makes cool days feel raw. On the rare hot afternoon the lack of shade and the dark clothing of the crowd push everyone toward the bar tents and the harbour swim spot.
